May 2nd 1993 - June 5th 2007

Age 14

Our Dom left us on June 5th after a 5 day battle to stay.
He had an asthma attack on May 31st which induced a cardiac arrest. This inturn led to overwhelming
swelling of his brain and after a long hard fight it was time for our cheeky little lad to have some
rest.

We as a family had asked that Dom be an organ donor, however as this can only take place up to 2
hours after the resporator is removed and our little scrapper held on for almost 4 hours our wish
was not possible. When anyone is reading this please also spare a thought for the families of those
children who were on standby to receive Doms organs.

Dom will never be out of our thoughts, his passion for music and painting was amazing.

His entire family will miss him every minute of every day.

Dom I can't tell you how much I love you but I know you are looking out for your old mum where you
are and I have no need to express anything in words.
Love Mum

In addition I cannot express how fantastic the staff at The Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital are
I cannot remember all of the doctors and nurses but a special thanks to Dr Rachel Barber and the
nurse that looked after Dom on night shifts Lee, he helped us through this time so much.

Yesterday We Laid You To Rest

Dom

Yesterday we laid you to rest until then I had convinced myself that you had just gone on a short trip and would be barging through the door demanding your favourite meal. I know now that this isn't going to happen.

There is a book of condolance where a lot of you friends have left messages for you. One in particular made me even more proud of you, you had mentioned this incident but never gave us any details or made a big deal of it, and it just shows what kind of a persn that you were.

forrever grateful,

I meet this young man when he helped me after a fall in town I never knew his name until I saw his picture in the paper. He was kind and helpful and stayed with me for 20mins until I was ok.A real angel on earth and now in gods arms forever. I felt I needed to attend his funeral today to say thank you to a young man who gave a stranger time in my hour of need and what I heard today proved that he was a beautiful person through and through. My prayers are with his family and I hope that his friends will keep his spirit alive through their memories shared .

I cannot tell you how much pride I feel every time that I read this Dom.

Barbara and Maria put together all of the flowers for your funeral and they were beautiful Dom I hope yu are looking out for them and Elvis too lol.

Richard Megan myself and Dad are missing you so much I dont think that we will ever heal

Love
Mum

A concert of a special kind in heaven today

Well little lad, you went and did it now, for sure !! Did you really need such a big audience for your emerging great musical talent then ?? And if you see the real 'Elvis' are you going to tell him that he is an impostor because you knew the 'real' one ??? Oh Dom, what happy memories you left here with us, but how sad we all feel is hard to say. I promise I will look out for them all and be there for them when it is all to much for them to understand. I remember when you were a little one, searching all over the place for your brother Richard and my Jay when they ran off to hide from you, as you followed them everywhere. They got grounded and you got the crisps, bless your heart. I remember when you sneaked away from Grandma and Auntie Kathryn before you were old enough to start school, just because you wanted to find them and make them take you with them. You caused a real panic as we all had visions of having to call your mum at work, but we found you ... and you got the crisps again lol. None of us could ever be angry with you as you fixed those big blue eyes on us. I can't take it all in yet Dom, I guess that I never thought to see this happen, you just never think it ever would, and my heart is heavy with sadness for your Mum and Dad and everyone. You were going to be a musician of a great kind, you will be there to and we shall hear your guitar softly on the wind as it blows from heaven ... at least we won't need ear plugs like the angels will ! And thats only to protect them from the applause that will follow your gig to ! I hope that my Roxanne has a front seat ... I am sure you will make sure she does as I know she will be so proud sitting there watching the young man she bounced on her knee as a little one !
They say that all things happen for a reason Dom, but the reason for you to be taken home so soon just does'nt make any sense to me right now. All I do know is that you did'nt come to this world to learn any lessons, you came to teach us many life lessons. You taught us how to deal with adversity, patience as you were not able to eat the things that other kids took for granted and humour as your funny sense of humour had us rolling about in fits of laughter. You will be so missed and always loved and remembered little man. The angels gain is our loss I guess, and your life may have been a short one to live, but you know something Dom, your life had more packed into it and was lived with more meaning than someone who lives to a great age ! Sleep well and when you are ready, go fly with the angels and come visit with us. We will listen for the strains of your guitar strings every time a heavenly wind blows. With love as ever Barbara 'Elvis' and Maria xxxxx
